🔎 Overview
Arriving by train at Isola della Scala, we reached Mantua through villages amid fields of rice, corn, pumpkin and wheat along back roads (with very few cars).Mantua gives us a wonderful welcome with its skyline and the Mincio river surrounding the city. After an aperitivo by the lake with live music we head towards the historic centre for dinner.
The next day, breakfast in the centre and then we rode our bikes up to Monte Borghetto to visit the old water mills along the Mincio river. Shortly before Peschiera we took a refreshing dip, a vegetable focaccia for lunch and then we continued along the coast of Lake Garda until Riva del Garda to spend another beautiful night.
On the third day, we returned to Bolzano, climbing from Torbole to Rovereto and Trento, stopping several times at the various little “Bici Grill” along the Adige river. At Ora we rode around Lake Caldaro, pedalling up a small climb to Appiano and finally down to Bolzano.
