🔎 Overview
This cycling tour takes place on the Trabocchi Cycle Network: a paved and unpaved network of cycling routes made to discover the coasts and hinterland of Abruzzo 🇮🇹 🚲 ❣️
Trabocchi are ancient wooden constructions made for fishing, nowadays most of them are used as restaurants where you can taste fresh fish dishes. Meat lovers instead, have to try the famous “arrosticini” (sheep meat stick).
Starting from Francavilla towards the inland, turn your head to see the sea, rise it to look at the mighty Majella mountain. ⛰
Through the hills and vineyards towards Ortona you don’t wanna miss a tour of the Aragonese castle overlooking the sea.💧
Cycling along the coast in the direction of San Vito you will often be tempted to get off your bike and take a swim in the crystal clear waters! 😉 🌊
A city you should visit is Lanciano: a place of pilgrimage known for the “Miracle of Lanciano”.
Back to the coast, you could take a rest at the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere perched on a hill from which you will enjoy a wonderful view of the Costa dei Trabocchi.
The wonderful Punta Aderci Nature Reserve near Vasto complete this cycling tour.
Here you can find more information about the complete route network https://costadeitrabocchimob.it/ and feel free to ask us for advices ✌️
👀 Our advices
Be sure to visit the Farmstay “Fattoria Uliveto” and its “Ventricina Academy” in village of Scerni. Their Ventricina sausage -made of the finest parts of the pig and with a spicy and aromatic flavour and taste- won many national and international prices
